Professor Carolyn Adams-Price, whose research focuses on gerontology—the process of aging—has been awarded Fellow status, the highest class of membership within the GSA, and will be recognized for her notable contributions in studying creativity in aging at the annual GSA meeting this fall in Tampa, Florida.

Awardees are granted the “FGSA” designation—Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America—and encouraged to use it when listing their academic credentials.

Founded in 1945, the GSA is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education and practice in the field of aging.

“I have been a gerontologist for more than 35 years, and I have always considered the Gerontological Society to be my intellectual home,” Adams-Price said. “GSA has given me the chance to get to know and work with researchers from a variety of disciplines that all have something to say about living well in later life. I am particularly excited to be recognized for my research on creativity and its benefits for older adults, and I am grateful to be a continuing member of the GSA Board for Humanities, Arts and Culture.”

An ̫ӳ faculty member since 1990, Adams-Price said, “Being named a Fellow is important because it suggests that my theoretical and practical contributions to the positive aspects of aging will continue to make an impact on peoples’ lives.”

Adams-Price received her Ph.D. from West Virginia University, her master’s degree from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
