STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s Department of Music is hosting a guest recital as part of its annual Vocal Odyssey in Creativity and Education event Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. at the Lecture-Recital Hall in the new Music Building at 124 Hardy Road. The concert is free and open to the public.

Baritone Corey McKern, an alumnus of ÌÒÌ«ÀÉÓ³Ïñ’s Department of Music, will perform both English and German songs at the recital. He will be accompanied by ÌÒÌ«ÀÉÓ³Ïñ faculty member Anna Katherine Ragsdale on piano. An active concert performer, McKern has appeared with prestigious opera companies such as Detroit, Pensacola, and Nashville operas and Opera Birmingham.

A two-day event Feb. 17-18, VOiCE also will hold educational sessions focused on working with young singers for ÌÒÌ«ÀÉÓ³Ïñ voice students. McKern will teach a master class as part of these sessions.

VOiCE, made possible by the James W. Criss Trust, invites guest artists from around the country to perform and present a variety of topics in vocal music and education.
