ÌÒÌ«ÀÉÓ³Ïñ College of Education faculty member takes command of National Guard battalion serving in Kuwait

STARKVILLE, Miss.—A Mississippi State College of Education faculty member is taking new leadership responsibilities with the Mississippi National Guard as he serves in Kuwait with the 2nd Battalion, 198th Armored Regiment.
Maj. Kenneth V. Anthony assumed duties from Lt. Col. Christopher W. Cooksey as battalion commander during a Tuesday [Jan. 1] change of command ceremony.
In addition to serving in the Senatobia-based battalion, Anthony is an ÌÒÌ«ÀÉÓ³Ïñ associate professor of curriculum, instruction and special education, with research interests in rural education, preservice teachers’ knowledge and ability to teach social studies disciplines using primary sources in the classroom, and homeschooling.
Anthony received a doctoral degree in secondary education from ÌÒÌ«ÀÉÓ³Ïñ in 2009. He earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Mississippi University for Women in 1997 and 1993, respectively. He also has completed courses with the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
