STARKVILLE, Miss.—It’s send-off time again for incoming Bulldog freshmen and transfer students entering ̫ӳ. Chapters and clubs of the ̫ӳ Alumni Association will host more than 60 send-off events from July 12 through August 8.
This is the 12th consecutive year the Alumni Association will host events around the nation for first-time ̫ӳ students. Parties are scheduled for areas across Mississippi, along with additional events in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C.
“Send-off parties help encourage enthusiasm and school spirit for our incoming students, and we continue to have tremendous support from our chapters for this nationwide celebration,” said Jeff Davis, executive director of the ̫ӳ Alumni Association. “It is the perfect opportunity for our alumni and friends to usher in our newest students to our forever-Bulldog family.”
Sponsored by area alumni chapters and clubs, the annual “send offs” provide excellent opportunities for incoming students to meet their future classmates and connect with alumni and friends of the university. Various ̫ӳ faculty and staff members will be in attendance at multiple parties, along with ̫ӳ Alumni Association representatives.
“These annual parties showcase the enthusiasm of Bulldogs everywhere who are welcoming incoming students to our great university,” said Casey McGee, a 2015 communication graduate and the association’s assistant coordinator for chapter and recruitment programs.
McGee fondly recalls her freshman send-off party hosted by the Oktibbeha County chapter in 2011. “The send-off experience is a point in time where fellow students are drawn into the maroon-and-white fold where they will hopefully remain throughout their lives,” she said.
