STARKVILLE, Miss.—Three highly regarded California chamber musicians will be featured April 21 in Mississippi State’s final Lyceum Series performance of the 2015-16 school year.

The Delphi Trio concert begins at 7 p.m. in Bettersworth Auditorium of the university’s historic Lee Hall.

General admission tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at or by visiting the Colvard Student Union, Suite 314.

The San Francisco-based group includes violinist Liana Bérubé, Michelle Kwon on violoncello and pianist Jeffrey LaDeur. Geographically diverse, they are alumni, respectively, of the University of Toronto in Canada, California’s Stanford University and the Eastman School of Music in New York.

“In a world of sound bites and over-stimulation, we encourage one another, and our audiences, to listen,” the musicians proclaim in their online mission statement. “We value direct and symbiotic communication with our audience, emotional vulnerability, spontaneity and risk taking, supported by scrupulous preparation.”

After having debuted with the San Jose Chamber Orchestra and performed at venues throughout the U.S. and Canada, Delphi released its first album, “Live,” in 2015—the same year it was honored at the international Orlando Concours competition in the Netherlands.

“Spot-on ensemble playing and a beautifully blended sound” and “rich, committed string tone, dazzling pianism, rhythmic flexibility and risky tempi” are among words of praise given the trio’s performances.
