STARKVILLE, Miss.—Internationally recognized—and self-taught—travel photographer Gary Arndt will speak Nov. 18 at Mississippi State.
Free to all, his presentation begins at 6 p.m. in the Bettersworth Auditorium of historic Lee Hall.
The program is part of International Education Week, an annual observance organized by the Richard Holmes Cultural Diversity Center.
Arndt’s campus visit is sponsored by ̫ӳ Globetrotters, a club working to support the university’s international student body and increase overall participation in study-abroad programs.
In 2007, Arndt sold his Minnesota home and began traveling the world. Though initially planned as only a year or two adventure, Arndt has said his journey won’t end anytime soon.
To date, he has visited every continent, including more than 175 countries and territories, all 50 states and U.S. territories and every Canadian province and Australian state and territory, among other locales. His adventures continually are shared via blog titled .
Arndt has received multiple travel photographer of the year awards from both the Society of American Travel Writers and North American Travel Journalists Association. In 2010, Everything Everywhere was included in Time Magazine’s “25 Best Blogs in the World.”
In addition to ̫ӳ students and employees, all individuals interested in world travel or study-abroad program participation are encouraged to attend, said Globetrotters president Andrew V. Vassil of Woodstock, Georgia.
“Gary Arndt truly exudes the spirit of ̫ӳ Globetrotters in his desire to see and document the beauty of the world,” the junior business administration major added.
Vassil said he and other organization members are eager “to have him come to campus to share his wealth of stories, tips and experiences.”
